Heir to a seven-century legacy in Italian wine, Piero Antinori may well be responsible for the renaissance of quality in Tuscan wines, and has spent the better part of his 61 years striving to place Italian wines at the forefront of the international arena. Credit for the Super Tuscan movement rests, in large part, at the feet of the Antinori family.

Challenged by strict DOC laws which prohibited the use of Cabernet, or even the creation of a Chianti Classico which was 100% Sangiovese, Antinori took his finest lots of Sangiovese, added his best Cabernet Sauvignon, aged the blend in the finest small French oak barrels and labeled this wine as a “Vin de Tavola” – the lowest designation in the DOC hierarchy. The wine was Tignanello and it spawned a revolution in Tuscan winemaking, where quality and not antiquated restrictions would govern the choices made by winemakers.

Two couples will have the rare opportunity to experience Tuscany as the Antinori family has for generations and to share some of the most extraordinary wines produced by them. This four day Tuscan “Way of Life” tour will begin with a two-night stay at Fonte de’ Medici Agriturism, belonging to the Antinori Family. The Fonte de’ Medici is located in the heart of Chianti Classico, in close proximity to both Florence and Siena. Here, the couples will have the opportunity to experience the pastoral life.

That visit will be followed by a two-night stay in the Bolgheri area at Tombolo Talasso Resort: a modern and beautiful hotel located in Marina di Castagneto Carducci. Only a few steps from the sea and surrounded by the beautiful Mediterranean vegetation, the resort is also very close to Antinori Estate’s Gaudo al Tasso.

DAY ONE: Visit the vineyards and cellars of Tignanello Estate, with a special tasting of Antinori wines and a private lunch in Antinori’s Villa Tignanello, the family home where they host their special guests. Following lunch, you will have the chance to visit the Badia a Passignamo Estate, where the Antinoris own the vineyards around the medieval abbey and where the famous Chianti Classico Riserva “Badia a Passignano” is produced and aged before dining that evening at Osteria di Passignano, an outstanding restaurant opened by the Antinori family in 2000.

DAY TWO: You and your guests will have the opportunity to spend the day in Florence; with all of its monuments, museums, shopping and more. You can choose between either lunch or dinner at Cantinetta Antinori, inside Palazzo Antinori; depending on what activities you may have stumbled across throughout the day.

DAY THREE: After a leisurely morning, travel from Fonte de’ Medici to Tombolo Talasso Resort for a light lunch upon arrival. In the afternoon, choose to spend your day on the beautiful beach or by trying the Talasso therapy; the beneficial effects of sea water, enhanced by a wide selection of treatments of the Wellness Center and Spa, including the famed hydro massage. You will be happy to have spent the day relaxing, as dinner that night will be at La Pineta, a renowned Michelin-starred seafood restaurant.

DAY FOUR: On your final day, enjoy a visit to the Guado al Tasso Estate, with a tour of the cellars and vineyards before a private tasting and lunch in the Antinori’s home.

During this magical trip through the heart of Tuscany, the group will be exposed both to the natural beauty of the region, as well as the art and architecture of its people. This lot includes works of art from three of Italy’s finest modern vintages; a Double Magnum of Antinori’s awe-inspiring 1997 Solaia and massive Imperials of both the intense 2000 Tignanello and the sumptuous 2003 Solaia.

Drinking these remarkable wines will take you back to those perfect Tuscan evenings, the air crisp with the smell of the vine and a gentle breeze lightly bringing in the scents of the sea. The Italian sky is once again aglow with stars and each sip brings back the gentle bliss of this timeless land. Enjoy!
