Burgundy is one of the most exclusive wine regions on earth and one of the hardest to investigate at close range. Two lucky couples will have an unprecedented opportunity to get an insider’s view of the region, seen through the eyes of one of the area’s greatest estates.

Founded in 1880, Maison Joseph Drouhin is both a négociant and a major wine producer, making wine from estate vineyards in Chablis, Côte de Nuits, Côte de Beaune and Côte Chalonnaise. It is also one of the last of the great properties that are still family owned. The 18th-century private guest house at Maison Joseph Drouhin will serve as the home base for your party’s exploration of the glories of Burgundy.

You’ll have dinner with Véronique Boss-Drouhin, in charge of winemaking both in Burgundy and at Domaine Drouhin winery in Oregon. Véronique, great granddaughter of founder Joseph Drouhin, grew up running through the vineyards and playing hide and seek in the cellars. A graduate of the oenology program at the University of Dijon, where she was the only woman in her class, she is the guardian of the family style.

Your party’s exploration of the region will be steeped in history. You’ll receive a tour of the historic city of Dijon, and in Beaune you’ll visit the famous Hospices de Beaune, one of the world’s first charity hospitals founded in 1443. You will also enjoy a private tasting in the underground cellars of the Dukes of Burgundy and Kings of France.

No visit to Burgundy is complete without a stop at the famed Château du Clos de Vougeot, founded by Cistercian monks in the 11th and 12th centuries, and you’ll experience it as few tourists ever do. You will participate in an exclusive chapter of the Confrérie des Chevaliers du Tastevin, the fraternity of Burgundy connoisseurs, housed in the Cistercian cellars of the château. This special opportunity is not available to the public and cannot be purchased.

In addition to your vineyard tours and historical stops, you’ll have the chance to sample the gastronomic richness of the region, as well as the opportunity to customize your itinerary with the Drouhin team.

Last but certainly not least, the winning bidder’s party will receive Large Format bottles of the greatest Premier and Grand Crus from the Drouhin collection: a vertical of Magnums from the 2017, 2018 and 2019 vintages of Clos des Mouches white and red, along with Musigny and Montrachet Marquis de Laguiche.

Insider's Info

Airfare is not included. Visit to be scheduled for mutually agreeable dates and based on availability. There are only 16 Chapters of the Confrérie des Chevaliers du Tastevin a year, and they take place on select Saturdays, which include a black tie dinner. Due to the historic nature of the property, the accommodations are not ADA accessible. Reception is available next door to the house and available during working hours. Meals are only included as stated above and served with select wine and non-alcoholic beverages. Gratuities are included for all activities with the Drouhin family.
