Among wine lovers, there’s an ongoing debate about whether Bordeaux or Burgundy is the greater wine. Two lucky couples will have the opportunity to settle the dispute firsthand, indulging in extraordinary experiences at some of the most esteemed estates in both regions.

Your exploration begins in Bordeaux, where you’ll spend three nights in exceptional comfort at the InterContinental Bordeaux – Le Grand Hotel. Your time there will be focused on the Right Bank of the Gironde, where you’ll visit many of the area’s notable properties, including the leading estate of Château-Figeac.

Château-Figeac traces its roots back to the 2nd century and has been owned by the Manoncourt family since 1946. It is one of two châteaux to carry the highest rank of Premier Grand Cru Classé A in the official classification of Saint-Émilion wine.

You’ll be treated to a private tour at Château-Figeac and an exclusive lunch with the Manoncourt family, who will share their ongoing rejuvenation of the property with you, including the new underground cellars completed in 2021.

During your time in Bordeaux, you will have two additional vineyard visits curated by Vignobles et Châteaux, a boutique concierge wine company. Under their direction, you’ll visit a Saint-Émilion’s premier classified growth as well as a top property in adjacent Pomerol. Your time in Bordeaux will culminate in a VIP tasting of older vintage wines at the Vignobles et Châteaux headquarters in Saint-Émilion.

It’s time to bid Bordeaux farewell and step into the world of Burgundian winemaking and hospitality, meticulously arranged by Acker’s wine specialists. Acker, the world’s leading fine wine auction house, has relationships with top wine estates and offers VIP access typically out of reach for the general public. Your home base for three nights will be the exquisite La Cuverie by Comte Liger-Belair in the heart of Vosne-Romanée.

Domaine du Comte Liger-Belair is steeped in history and tradition in Vosne-Romanée, dating back over 200 years. The modern chapter began in 2000 when Comte Louis-Michel Liger-Belair, an agricultural engineer and oenologist, restored and revitalized the estate. You’ll enjoy a private tasting with Louis-Michel, in which you’ll sample wines from the Premier and Grand Cru estate vineyards. You’ll also dine at La Cuverie’s lively wine bar, opened by Louis-Michel and his wife Constance in 2022, accompanied by rare wine selections.

You and your guests will also have the opportunity to explore some of Burgundy’s most exceptional domaines in Meursault and Gevrey-Chambertin. Immerse yourself in the world of classic, age-worthy Chardonnay at Domaine Antoine Jobard, where fifth-generation winemaker Antoine Jobard will personally host your private tasting. At Domaine Duroché, another illustrious fifth-generation winemaker, Pierre Duroché, will be your guide for an exclusive tasting of his exceptional Gevrey wines. Finally, the venerable Domaine Fourrier, with its four-generation legacy, will introduce its wines to you with the expertise of one of Burgundy’s brightest stars, winemaker Jean-Marie Fourrier.

For their personal cellars, each couple will receive a Three Liter bottle of the highly rated 2010 Château-Figeac to enjoy as a memento of this memorable week.
