Over the five nights of this amazing trip to Argentina, the winning bidders’ party of four will experience both the urban sophistication of Buenos Aires and the outstanding wines of Terrazas de los Andes—made from grapes grown “where the earth meets the sky.”
Your adventure begins in Buenos Aires, the Paris of South America, where you’ll be exposed to the best of local culture and cutting-edge cuisine. It wouldn’t be Argentina without the tango, of course. Your party will dine at the El Cabaret room of the Faena Hotel, located in the city’s prestigious Puerto Madero neighborhood, followed by the famed Rojo Tango show. As you relax in the plush red leather banquettes, you’ll be mesmerized by the footwork and virtuosity on the dance floor. You’ll also take in a show at the Teatro Colón, one of the world’s top-rated venues for both opera and concert acoustics.
There’s no end to the culinary delights awaiting you in Buenos Aires. You’ll dine at Aramburu, the only restaurant in the country to receive Two Michelin Stars. Chef Gonzalo Aramburu uses the best of local ingredients to create an 18-course tasting menu that the Michelin Guide has called “haute cuisine with an Argentinian soul.” You’ll visit Don Julio by renowned Chef Guido Tassi, recipient of One Michelin Star, and El Preferido, the haunt of legendary writer Jorge Luis Borges. Both Don Julio and El Preferido also hold a Michelin Green Star, awarded to restaurants with outstanding practices in sustainability.
From Buenos Aires you’ll fly to Mendoza, the capital of Argentine wine country, and spend the night at the Terrazas de los Andes winery residence. Founded in 1996 by Moët Hennessy in a winery built one century earlier, Terrazas was nurtured by a visionary team who realized the potential for high-altitude Malbec in Mendoza. After a tour and tasting, you’ll be hosted for dinner by the CEO and senior winemaker. To better understand the Terrazas de los Andes philosophy, a helicopter will whisk you to the El Espinillo vineyard at 5,400 feet, the source of the winery’s flagship wine, Extremo Malbec.
You’ll spend the next two nights at the luxurious The Vines Resort & Spa in the Uco Valley, named to Conde Nast’s “Hot List” of the best new hotels in the world. The Vines is home to Siete Fuegos restaurant, helmed by internationally acclaimed Argentine Chef Francis Mallman, the master of open-flame cooking. Your exploration of the Uco Valley will include a visit to winery La Vigilia and dinner at their creative restaurant, Rope. Before you leave Mendoza, each guest will have their choice to enjoy a full spa day, a horseback riding excursion or go trekking at Estancia Rancho ‘e Cuero.
For their home cellar, each couple will receive six Magnums and three full cases of Extremo Malbec, which CEO Lucas Löwi predicts will become an icon of Argentina and high-altitude wine.
