Two couples will experience the history, heritage and culture of Saudi Arabia in a dazzling itinerary that combines the capital of Riyadh, the pilgrimage hub of Jeddah and an ultra-luxury resort in the Arabian desert.
Your journey to Arabia begins in Riyadh, the country’s largest city, a hub of governance, industry and finance. You’ll check into the Five-star Four Seasons Hotel at Kingdom Centre, a luxurious retreat with every possible amenity. Relax in the 900 square feet of your opulent Executive Suite, with 180-degree views of the city from your living room.
The following day, your party will do a deep dive into the heart of Riyadh’s history and culture. The first stop is the Masmak Fort in the city’s old quarter, which played a key role in the recapture of Riyadh by Ibn Saud in 1902. Adjacent to the Fort is the Dirah Souq, a bustling market focused on colorful textiles such as silks and pashminas (shawls). Next up is the National Museum, a treasure trove of Saudi history and a World Heritage Site. After visiting the Murabba Palace and Rajhi Mosque, you’ll enjoy a traditional Saudi lunch at Najd Village restaurant.
Ascend to the Sky Bridge at Kingdom Centre; at a height of nearly 1,000 feet, the bridge offers a panoramic view of Riyadh’s skyline. Explore the King Abdullah Financial District and the UNESCO-listed Dir’iyah, known as the birthplace of the first Saudi state. The day ends with a private dinner at the home of a Saudi family, which will offer an intimate glimpse into the daily life and traditions of locals.
Next, you’ll fly to AlUla for a three-night stay at Our Habitas AlUla, an eco-friendly retreat designed to blend seamlessly with its natural surroundings. Your Celestial Villa features spacious areas for lounging, entertaining and absorbing the dramatic views of burning sunsets amongst sandstone cliffs. The interiors are elegantly furnished, with attention to detail that pays homage to the local culture and craftsmanship.
Embark on an afternoon journey with your private guide into the heart of AlUla Old Town Village, a place steeped in history. Wander through its labyrinthine streets, lined with hundreds of ancient mudbrick houses and dominated by a formidable fort. Continue with a serene walk along the Oasis Heritage Trail, which offers a verdant contrast to the desert landscape. Your cultural exploration concludes in the Al-Jadidah Art District, showcasing a thriving contemporary art scene with galleries, studios and cafes.
Accompanied by private guides, the next few days provide a close-up view of the ancient wonders and artistic expressions of AlUla. The stunning desert landscapes and the unique flora and fauna of AlUla will amaze you during an exhilarating 4×4 safari through the Sharaan Nature Reserve. You’ll visit the Camel Farm and get a glimpse into the traditional lifestyle and practices surrounding camel rearing. From the top of the majestic “Elephant Rock,” you’ll enjoy a serene moment sipping Arabic coffee or tea, accompanied by local dates, while soaking in the spectacular sunset. The next morning, you can watch the sun rise during a panoramic hot air balloon ride over AlUla.
After a stop in Madinah, the Haramain bullet train will take you to Jeddah, the country’s commercial center and a vital hub for pilgrims en route to the holy city of Mecca. At the opulent Shangri-La hotel you can admire views of the Red Sea from the balcony of your suite.
Your private tour of Jeddah will encompass the Angawi House, a masterpiece of intricate Islamic architecture, the House of Islamic Arts, the Al-Rahmah floating mosque and the traditional Hejazi houses in Al-Balad. The tour will conclude with a visit to King Fahd’s Fountain, the tallest of its kind in the world, with saltwater shooting nearly 1,000 feet into the air at high speeds from the Red Sea.
No matter how exotic, every journey inevitably leads you back home. You’ll return with the knowledge that your winning bid helped provide a better future for our underserved children.
