One (1) NWWF 25th anniversary 5.5’h x 2’w x 2’d Bacchus monument created in coordination with Method & Concept, Thomas Riley Artisans’ Guild and artist Brett F. Harvey
There have been many impressive wine lots auctioned in the first 24 years of the Naples Winter Wine Festival, but there has never been a collection as amazing as this. The lucky winner will own 239 bottles in various formats of the very best estates from the world’s greatest wine regions.
What makes this collection so unique is not just the prospective cost, but rather the rarity of the bottles included. As a random example, take the 2021 Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru Clos de la Marechale Monopole from Domaine J.F. Mugnier. You will most certainly never a find a Six Liter on the retail market. Such treasures don’t exist.
The delights of this collection are almost endless. The 111 bottles from California represent a wish list of some of the Golden State’s finest properties, and they inspire some fascinating possibilities for individual consumption or group tasting. Curious about the differences among the vineyards in the Bond portfolio? Uncork the 2019s and find out. Have you ever wondered how well Opus One ages? Compare the 1987, 2000 and 2005 side by side.
In the case of France, there is an embarrassment of riches—everything from a Six Liter bottle of Château Mouton Rothschild from the famed 2000 vintage to the scarcest of Burgundies. If you fantasize about trying the extremely rare white Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru Clos des Grandes Vignes from Domaine du Comte Liger-Belair, here are three of them for you. Want to track the evolution of First Growth Château Latour? A vertical tasting of 1970, 1995, 1999, 2000 and 2001 will provide some answers.
The procession of unicorns doesn’t stop there. You might succeed in finding a bottle of 2015 Amarone della Valpolicella Riserva from the maestro of Amarone, Giuseppe Quintarelli, but never a Three Liter bottle. In addition, you’ll be the proud owner of Large Formats of such Italian estates as Ornellaia, Masseto, Giuseppe Quintarelli, Bruno Giacosa and Biondi-Santi. You’ll acquire verticals from Pingus and Vega Sicilia Unico in Spain and a collection of bottles from top Australian estates; you might succeed in snagging a single bottle of the bold and structured 1998 Álvaro Palacios L’Ermita Priorat, but you’d never find a Five Liter.
With a cellar like this, you might think that Bacchus, the God of Wine, is watching over you—and in fact, he will be. The winning bidder will receive a Bacchus-themed sculpture designed by Method & Concept, in coordination with Thomas Riley Artisans’ Guild of Naples and noted American sculptor Brett F. Harvey. Measuring approximately five and a half feet high, two feet wide and two feet deep, the Roman God of agriculture and viticulture will be a constant presence, wherever you choose to display this stunning work of art.
The Trustees of NCEF have given generously, and they ask you to do the same. This spectacular wine collection will bring you years of pleasure, and it will also bring a brighter future to the underserved children of Collier County.
All wine is sold on an “as-is” basis. Prospective bidders should inspect the wines on display in The Ritz-Carlton Naples, Tiburón auction lot room prior to bidding. Any prospective bidder who bids on wine assumes sole and exclusive responsibility of such election and affirms that they are relying on their own judgment as to the value and desirability of such wine. All wine must be arranged for and/or picked up from the Naples Children & Education Foundation office no later than January 25, 2026. Failure to do so by this date will result in wine being considered a donation to NCEF. The sculpture will be stored at Method & Concept for up to 3 months after the auction. Cost of delivery and installation of the sculpture is at the winning bidder’s expense.
